Hi Stephane, yes I took a CPU apart yesterday it seems fairly straightforward and Farnell seem to stock the batteries. I'm going to take it up with Idec because I seem to recall Mike at Idec mentioning that there was an issue with some FC4A-C24R2 CPUs?

I suppose a soldered battery is a more robust connection, and after all I've got CPUs that have been out in the field getting on for 10 years, this is very much a one off.

Hi Barry,

You need a Panasonic battery BR1220/HEN I think.

Desoldering should be no problem I think.

Best regards,

Stéphane

Hi

I have a CPU with a defective lithium battery. It seems a shame to throw away a perfectly usuable CPU because of a faulty battery.

I wondered if anybody had dismantled a CPU and if it was possible to replace the battery?

I tried to setup a virtual serial link with "http://www.serial-port-redirector.com/" and a modem "http://www.maestroheritage.com/" with fc2a-kc4c cable to PLC. Same com settings. but with none success  Undecided

Is this solution possible? What do you think?

If display is shorter to PLC, you can connect the display to COM1 (programming port) of the PLC and add a RS485 communication module as COM2 to connect the PC.
In that case you need only 1 RS232/RS485 converter

Depending on the environment you can also try to use a RS232 connection.
30 m should be still ok at 9600 Baud.

Best regards

Hello Stephane,

If i am using this option for 30 meters distance i will have to use two RS232/485 converters, one at PLC end and one at PC side(485 to 232) right?

or is it possible to connect RS485 directly to PC?

Hello,

I think you use an Idec MicroSmart as PLC ?
If so, add a second communication port to the PLC and connect here the display.
The programming port is free to connect the PC.
If distance is too long, you can use RS232 to RS485 converters http://www.renuelectronics.com/rscon.htm

Best regards

Hello,

I want to monitor process data (data from two analog inputs) on a HG1F Operator Interface and on a PC located at 30 meters from the pannel. Is it possible to connect the PLC and PC simultaneously with HG1F? how to implement this?

It works. I did it without any ActiveX.

Hi Igor,

The fastest way, is to use the Idec communication ActiveX.
Works perfect in VB6.
http://www.cyberneticbe.com/producten/index.htm#ActiveX
You can test this. Driver works for about 60 min., hereafter you have to restart the application
VB6 sample program is included.

License price, only €99,00 and you can use this as communication driver for all your next VB6 projects. I never tried VB.net, or Visual C, but normally this OCX should work also.

Best regards,
Stéphane
